Morm La is 48 years old. She has three children, two of whom are studying. The oldest child is a driver. She makes her living as a seamstress and her husband is a boat maker. They have a small piece of land they use to grow rice. As a seamstress, she can make $2-3 for 30 shirts, and her husband earns $3.75 a day, so together on average, they make $6-7 a day. Morm La is an OPA member and strongly involved in her community.

I’m young, but I have been a member of the OPA for 10 years now. They have given me chickens, a rice bank loan, and a financial loan. As a member, I learn about older people in the community, and I know that my husband and I will have support when we get older.

I have been sick a lot with stomach and heart problems, so I have joined the Health Camps and receive good advice from the doctor about how to exercise, eat less salt and sugar, and more vegetables. This has helped me a lot, so I don’t even have to go to the health center anymore. The health center is not so bad, but I prefer to go to the OPA Health Camps because I know all the people there.
